“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up” a quote by B Ruth, which in my case is how I have lived my life.
Born in one of the poorest places in rural South Africa, Kwa Mhlaba Uyalingana in KwaZulu-Natal, giving up has never been an option. Entrepreneurship has been the only way out.
At 17-years old I founded a tourism company, Khensani Africa, which was a concept where tourists would be hosted by different cultures and experience an authentic experience with a real family. I sold the business to an investor at the age of 21.
I attended the University of Cape Town where I completed my BSocSci majoring in: Law, Politics and Economics during this time I was also running my events business Moving Addresses.
After completing my degree, I enrolled with a boutique advertising school Red & Yellow where I completed my post graduate honours in Marketing and Advertising which introduced me to the world of advertising.
An award-winning creative that has beat all odds to claim his space in the industry, my business partner and I founded Avatar, an agency that has grown to be the biggest black owned agency in South Africa. An agency with global ambition that already represents leading global brands on the continent.
It’s been a hard journey where we have had to create our own path…yet after 10-years it still feels like we’re just starting.
